'Poetry Buzz' festivals

The children write their own poem in Paul’s creative writing workshop. We use countless ideas, stimuli and themes, sometimes even creating a poem from nothing at all – starting with just an initial idea!

The children learn about bringing their words to life, flying off the paper into the spoken word. We develop an understanding of voices, accents, actions and noises, using props to create a performance.

After practising, selected children from each school perform their poem in front an evening audience, a few weeks after writing their own poem and learning how to perform, bringing the words to life!

After a magical and memorable evening of performance poetry, in front of parents, grandparents, teachers and teaching assistants, EVERY child receives super certificates and prizes – truly, a night to remember!
